Artist Statement
These paintings are about the experience of balance, freedom, and contrast, and reflect my fascination with elements of pattern and design. With broad stretches of color setting the mood, layered imagery inspired by lacework, Celtic knots, mandalas, and a recent trip to Alhambra create texture and unity across the work.

Each composition is a collage of sorts, with images overlaid on the canvas and gradually transformed with each layer. Through this process, forms take their places organically and on an emotional level -- some become obscured, some remain present, while others are more ethereal.
